Cydneys greatest influence in her painting is her
great love of nature and particularly the west...and she has spent years
hiking, backpacking and seeing every nook and cranny of the Rocky
Mountains that she can. After a long career as a graphic designer, Cydney
uses her design experience, her talent and her joy to now create paintings
from her heart.
A few years ago, Cydney took time off from graphic
design. At her husband Gregs encouragement, she fulfilled a life-long
dream and began seriously to study oil painting... and even more
serendipity led her to study with professional artists Mollie Davis and
Jake Gaedtke. Workshops from award-winning landscape painters such as Jay
Moore, George Strickland and Matt Smith have also greatly influenced her.
Plein aire and studio painting have become her passion and Cydney is now a
full-time artist.
Cydney has been juried into numerous artshows including
the prestigious Oil Painters of America Regional show and she is
represented by Elk Horn Gallery of Winter Park.
It is impossible to be more present with myself and
with this great Earth than when I am studying the shape of a tree or the
colors within mountain shadows. There is no greater joy than getting to
spend a crisp Rocky Mountain morning creating a couple of plein air
studies and then, to relive that experience later in my studio as I create
a full-size painting from my field study. I am so blessed and I hope that
those who enjoy my art feel that great blessing.
